PRISM BRASS QUARTET has been actively performing since 2006. Founded by
trombonist Karen Marston, the ensemble has combined an active freelance career in and
around the Texas Gulf Coast region with significant concert events focused on exploring
and expanding the repertoire for brass quartet. The members of PRISM were named
quarter finalists in the prestigious Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition, and
were also featured in a Soiree Recital at that event. The quartet has performed guest
recitals regionally at Rice University, San Jacinto College Central, St. Paul Catholic
Church, Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, and in 2012, were featured guest artists at
Cafecorotu, an innovative concert series in Panama City, Panama.

Founding member and tenor trombonist, DR.
KAREN MARSTON, is currently professor of low
brass and director of brass chamber music at San
Jacinto College Central in Pasadena, Texas. Dr.
Marston holds degrees in trombone performance
from the University of North Texas and Rice
University, and both a masters and doctorate in
music education from Columbia University. Her
teachers include Jan Kagarice, Dr. Vern Kagarice,
Dr. Royce Lumpkin, and David Waters. Karen has
performed with the San Antonio Symphony, the
Houston Symphony, Orchestra X, the Texas Brass,
the Houston Composers Orchestra, and toured the
United State and Canada as a member of the pit
orchestra for the show, A Christmas Carol.

Hernandez has performed with the Sinfonia de Mineria in Mexico City, Mexico, and was a founding member of the brass quintet, Dudley Brass. Currently, he maintains an active professional teaching studio in the Houston, Texas area. |
